The Silver Generation Says Hi! Farglory Group Pioneers a New Culture of Intergenerational Collaboration

According to estimates from Taiwan’s National Development Council, by 2025, individuals aged 65 and older will account for over 20% of the total population. This will officially mark Taiwan’s transition into a super-aged society. Globally, the trend is just as pronounced; by 2030, workers aged 55 and above are expected to make up more than a quarter of the labor force in developed countries.

Popcorn, movies, and laughter: embracing silver-haired colleagues with joy
As demographic shifts reshape the workforce, companies are rethinking how to leverage the strengths of senior and middle-aged talents. While many businesses focus on redesigning roles and workplace environments, Farglory Group took a different first step: Hosting a lunchtime movie showing to set the stage for an age-friendly workplace. When The Intern concluded, a powerful greeting from Professor Yang Tien-Lin, himself nearly 70 years old, resonated through the room, proving that senior professionals remain a vital force in the workplace. With over 40 years of teaching experience and a mentorship-driven approach to supporting younger generations, Teacher Yang redefined how Farglory employees can perceive and embrace intergenerational collaboration.

Through guided discussions, employees gradually uncovered the unique strengths of mid-to-senior-aged employees through the film’s subtle details. As we observed their increasingly empathetic expressions, it became clear that they were beginning to recognize and relate to the internal struggles faced by older colleagues—the challenges of declining physical and mental stamina, the conflict of self-worth, and the uncertainties of reentering the workforce.

Making intergenerational collaboration a daily reality: silver-haired colleagues say “Hi”!
To conclude the event, the HR team invited the most seasoned colleague at Farglory’s headquarters to take the stage. Once retired but later rehired, this employee shared a journey of embracing a new role at the front desk: Demonstrating the stability, adaptability, and refined social skills that experienced professionals bring to the workplace. Their story showcased how decades of experience cultivate grace and composure, proving that even in one’s silver years, a career can continue to bloom in unique and meaningful ways. Within the audience, many former managers had also returned as consultants, leveraging their wealth of knowledge to mentor younger employees, and ensuring that experience and wisdom remain an invaluable foundation for the next generation.

“Our dear Yu-fen is quite nervous, but still has bravely taken the stage to share her story,” the host remarked, voicing the thoughts of the seasoned colleague. At that moment, the warm smiles, resounding applause, and enthusiastic cheers from the audience spoke louder than any evaluation, policy, or words—expressing the most genuine acceptance and appreciation for senior colleagues.

Shifting from a focus on young labor to embracing the return of senior and middle-aged employees requires a long-term mindset shift and continuous training across Taiwanese society. Yet, Farglory Group is leading the way, starting from within, by fostering a workplace culture that proves “aging is not just about reaching an endpoint, but about continuing to contribute and thrive in a truly inclusive world”.
